On Angels and Michael
If last week’s discussion of Splice wasn’t weird enough for you, we’re back with another oddity in the form of Nora Ephron’s Michael. Michael was a massive holiday hit in 1996, and wound up grossing around $100 million.
But, in the time since, it’s become a bit of a forgotten title. Yet, when given a choice between two titles, Dustin decided on this.
Michael follows a tabloid journalist and his associates as they investigate the rumors of a real-life Angel in Iowa. What they encounter is nothing like the biblical tales they’re familiar with. As he travels with them to Chicago, they begin to learn more about themselves and their desires.
This week, we’re talking narrative form and structure, angels, secular theology, and much more.
