Through A Scanner Darkly

Set in the near future, A Scanner Darkly envisions a world where America lost the war on drugs. Undercover cop Fred (Reeves) is tasked with gaining intel on Donna (Ryder). Meanwhile, Barris (Downey, Jr) navigates a world of addicts, causing chaos for anyone he meets. As Fred, Donna and Barris get more intertwined, it’s hard to know where everything will land. Featuring rotoscoped animation, A Scanner Darkly is a paranoid, tragic, funny look at drug use and how it impacts everyone around. Philip K. Dick’s most personal novel resonates as much now as it did at the time it was released.
