A Fistful of Dollars – GTGC #218

Hello dear listeners! We are back in the studio with A Fistful of Dollars.

Pops’s Tribute to His Pops—A Fistful of Dollars

A Fistful of Dollars

Part of the reason for our delay was due to a death in Dustin’s family. So, in honor of his grandfather, we are watching one of his favorite films, A Fistful of Dollars. Sergio Leone’s influential classic is a key text both to cinema and to Dustin’s viewing habits. And, to add to the special occasion, we are joined by a special guest host—the prodigal son, Arthur Gordon.

To play into the theme of the week, the original gang of GoodTrashers talk about their favorite movies to watch with, and in honor of, family. After the gameplay, the show turns towards analysis. Arthur, having been out of the loop, prepares a classic analysis. He discusses the role of the Man with No Name and what he symbolizes within the film. Afterwards, Dustin discusses Italian Westerns and what the genre looks like. Dalton adds on to this, while also reflecting on Arthur’s analysis from a different angle.

A good time is had by all.

So hunker down with a bowlful of spaghetti as we talk Italian Westerns, Clint Eastwood, and the 1960’s counter-culture.
