On Episode 368 of the GenreCast, we’re diving into the mind of noted scribe Aaron Sorkin who we last discussed on our analysis of A Few Good Men. Molly’s Game marks Sorkin’s directorial debut. The film received some awards buzz, but ultimately fizzled out during awards season.
Playing Molly’s Game
Based on the memoir of Molly Bloom, the film tells us the story of the poker princess who ran some of the most elite poker games on either coast. Following a career-ending injury, skier Molly Bloom heads to LA for a change of scenery. There, she gets wrapped up in the world of underground poker. She soon finds herself running A-List poker games with celebrities, gangsters, and more. But, the further she gets in, the more dangerous the game becomes.
This week, during our analysis of Molly’s Game, we shuffle up and deal out our particular brand of film analysis to dive deep into the style and mind of Aaron Sorkin. From there, we discuss Molly’s character as portrayed in the film. So, pull up a seat at the table and join us for our conversation regarding Molly’s Game.
