Your favorite movie analysis podcast is back, and this time it’s topical! In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re taking the next couple of week’s to look at films directed by women. We’re kicking it off with the original Pet Sematary adaptation from 1989.
Digging into Pet Sematary
To help us navigate Mary Lambert’s Pet Sematary, we’re joined by our Frightful Femme Kirsten Therkelson.
In Pet Sematary, the Creed family moves to Ludlow, Maine from Chicago. Louis takes a job at the local university as the campus doctor. During their time in Ludlow, the Creed’s encounter a series of tragic events. Jud, their elderly neighbor, reveals that the pet cemetery on their land might offer more than a final resting place.
With the upcoming remake and the theme of women directors, the time is right for discussing Pet Sematary. Also, we’ve been threatening to talk about it for a while. This week, our analysis brings topics of grief and loss, death, adaptation and more.
Our format revamps also continue as we try to find a groove.
Now, bury your podcast listening devices in the stony soil to really get into this week’s episode.
