Join Heath, Alex, and Jill for an extremely sincere and musical episode of the Praisedown with members of The Luke Project: Kacey Walkinstick and Laney Gilliland! We here on the show are very excited for our very first episode to feature a live performance! Join us as we delve into talking points such as:
- Finding faith in your secular household!
- How to fluff your aura!
- You know about dream pop, but what’s nightmare pop?
Finally, on Tune Talk, we discuss Citizens‘ second album, Join the Triumph (2014)!
Citizens bring Anthemic, Celebratory Christian music into the 2010s
The story of Citizens begins at Mars Hill Church, which is also one of the band’s record labels in addition to being their home church. The bandleader, Zach Bolen, served as the worship leader and an elder at Mars Hill until he resigned in 2014.
Following critical and commercial success with their debut LP, Citizens, Citizens released Join the Triumph in 2014. Immediately, the band makes a departure from Citizens by incorporating more synthesizers and electronic sounds. Join the Triumph peaked at the #9 spot on Top Heatseekers. Themes off the album include redemption, grace, and celebration. Fans of contemporary worship will appreciate Join the Triumph for its high energy, positive themes, and most importantly, it’s zesty, synth-pop take on old standards.
