Treasure Planet – GTGC – #33

Another dose of #FlashbackFriday for you, this time animation themed. Before we started our Patron Brigham Cole sponsored movie marathon (Brig-athon, if you will), we only covered two animated films. Treasure Planet, from the early days of the GoodTrash Vault was one of these two. A film that marked the second end of a golden era of Disney animation, Treasure Planet gets mixed to very negative reviews from our hosts in this episode.
Dustin’s future struggle? ;D

Arthur examines the dichotomy of the old and new and examines Disney’s place in animated history during this time period. He does a studio history of Disney’s animation and the studio missteps, and essentially predicts the Frozen phenomenon before it happened in late 2013.

Dalton discusses Joseph Campbell and fables, and Dustin contemplates the pathological neurosis of Disney and Disney fans.  They finally discuss Will Smith (a reoccurring theme with our crew) and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. So do the gang consider the film buried treasure, or make it walk the space-themed plank? Open your ears, listener, and learn for yourself!
