We hope you’re all ready to praise it this week because we have our first double feature! We’re sitting down with two Austin-based comedians: Host of the comedy showcase Chortle Portal and podcast Gross Lonely Boys Andrew Clarkston (@clarkstunnin) and co-host of the Fun Show Kent Juliff (@kentjuliff)! Join this healthy abundance of boys as they discuss:
- The ways Jesus is like Young Sheldon!
- Why praying is badass!
- How to make a certain Dr. Who fanfiction better!
Be sure to stay for the review of Twinkie Clark’s Ye Shall Receive Power (1981)!
The Boys feel it on Ye Shall Receive Power
Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark-Terrell is the leader of the highly successful Gospel group The Clark Sisters, which, as advertised, included her sisters. Twinkie is credited with being “the Heart of the Clark Sisters”, as she is the primary songwriter, producer, and music arranger capable of a vast vocal range.
Twinkie Clark released Ye Shall Receive Power in 1981 while still a member of The Clark Sisters. Ye Shall Receive Power plays as an opus of Twinkie’s eclectic influences, including Gospel, Jazz, Funk, Classical, and Blues. Twinkie’s ear for musical arrangement precipitates an authentic sound that at times demands you to move, and at others demands you to be moved. Even one listen to Ye Shall Receive Power makes it simple to understand how Twinkie Clark helped shape modern Gospel music.
